Three big corporations, including the famous hotel company Marriott International Inc., will suspend their contributions to Republican lawmakers who, this week tried to spoil Joe Biden’s confirmation ceremony as president of the United States.

This was reported on Sunday by Spain’s news agency EFE in Washington.

Those entities notified their decision via digital site Public Information.

At the same time, the aforementioned site contacted 144 companies that have made contributions to senators who opposed the certification.

Marriott International Inc., medical insurance company Blue Cross Blue Shield and bank group Commerce Bancshares said they would suspend them according to information published by that website.

A spokesperson of the said hotel company explained that the decision took into account “the destructive events at the Capitol to undermine a legitimate and fair election”.

Meanwhile, Blue Cross Blue Shield’s chief executive officer Kim Keck pointed out that her company would also eliminate all financial support to the 147 Republican lawmakers who voted to “subvert the results of the elections held in November”.

Other big companies such as Bank of America, Ford o AT&T told Public Information they would take into consideration the recent events at the time to decide the future donations.

For their part, CVS, Exxon Mobil and Target stated they are reassessing their policies.

EFE points out that most of the consulted firms preferred not to make comments, with 127 of them.

Observers think we are in presence of a GOP in fall phase.
