UN highlights transparency of electoral process in Bolivia

La Paz, Oct 22 (Prensa Latina) The UN electoral observation mission in Bolivia highlighted on Friday the transparency of the electoral process carried out past Sunday and ruled out any type of fraud in that exercise.

The electoral advisor for Bolivia of the United Nations system, Luis Martinez, highlighted to local media that they did not identify any irregularities before, during and after the voting on October 18.

There is also no alteration of the official computation in process, Martinez noted, according to the Oxygen.bo website.

The statements of the UN official occur in light of the claims of alleged fraud issued by followers of the far-right candidate Luis Fernando Camacho, especially in the Santa Cruz department.

At 95 percent of the count, the candidate of the Movement Towards Socialism, Luis Arce, consolidates his victory in the first round with 54.5 percent of the votes.

This marks a difference of 25 points with respect to the candidate Carlos Mesa, representing the Citizen Community alliance, who gets 29 percent, according to the computo.oep.org.bo website enabled by the electoral body.

Finally, Camacho, from the 'Creemos' extreme right-wing party, appears in third place with 14.3 percent.
