The president dismissed the article's claims and launched personal attacks against the journalist.

Former President Donald Trump expressed fury on Wednesday over a New York Times article that detailed increasing signs of fatigue in the 79-year-old. The Republican asserted that he is full of energy and derided the article's author as "ugly."

In an extensive post on his Truth Social platform, filled with capitalized words for emphasis, Trump disputed the report. "I have never worked so hard in my life," he wrote. "Yet, despite all of this, the Radical Left Lunatics at the soon to be closed New York Times did a story on me saying that perhaps I am losing my energy, despite the facts showing exactly the opposite." He further boasted of having recently undergone a "PERFECT PHYSICAL EXAMINATION AND A COMPREHENSIVE COGNITIVE TEST ('Which I successfully passed')".

A Contrasting Public Schedule and Unanswered Questions

The Times report, published Tuesday, noted that Trump has significantly reduced his public events and domestic travel compared to his first term, often maintaining a public schedule between noon and 5 p.m. The article highlighted a televised Oval Office event earlier this month during which Trump appeared to briefly fall asleep.

While the former president remains an omnipresent media figure, known for marathon sessions with journalists—a stark contrast to his 81-year-old predecessor, Joe Biden—the White House's portrayal of him through AI-generated images as a muscular superhero contrasts with his visibly slowed pace. Unanswered questions about Trump's health persist, particularly regarding an MRI he underwent in October. Photographs of his swollen ankles and a large bruise on his right hand have also fueled speculation.

Personal Insults and a Firm Rebuttal

Trump escalated his response by labeling The New York Times an "ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE" and personally attacking the journalist who wrote the article, calling her "ugly, both inside and out." This follows a pattern of behavior, as he previously called another female reporter a "sleazebag" and referred to others with derogatory nicknames.

The New York Times issued a statement in response to Trump's post, standing by its reporting. "Our reporting is accurate and based on firsthand sources," the statement read. "Personal insults and name-calling do not change that, nor will our journalists hesitate to cover this administration in the face of intimidation tactics like this."
