especiales

With songs, messages of reaffirmation, and a commitment to their historical precedent, the iconic staircase of the University of Havana hosted, as it does every year, the central tribute to the paradigm of Fidel. His presence was evoked in every homage paid across the island, with the additional motivation of approaching the year of his centenary.
The commemoration was led by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the National Defense Council, who urged the young people present to follow the path charted by Fidel.
Youth Reaffirm Commitment to Fidel's Teachings
Meyvis Estévez, First Secretary of the National Committee of the Union of Young Communists, ratified the loyalty of today's youth to Fidel's teachings on the importance of the people's unity around their Revolution as a guarantee of victory.
In the face of threats from U.S. imperialism and the daily consequences of the intensified blockade, she stated that independence is a hard-won right, conquered daily with courage, valor, and patriotism, in the endeavor to never waver in the commitment to keep national dignity alive.
She also emphasized that solidarity is the lifeblood of the Revolution, and precisely for that reason, the largest of the Antilles maintains its demand for an end to the genocide against the people of Palestine and denounces the siege and criminal military deployment in Caribbean waters intended to undermine the sovereignty of the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
"Fidel will always be here, walking among us, inspiring hope. And beside him, this youth to whom he entrusted the Homeland; awakening debates, raising the flag of liberty with the courage of those who have learned to say with pride: We are free!" she concluded.
High-Level Attendance at the Commemorative Event
The Cuban president was accompanied by other members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party, the Secretariat, other leaders of the political organization, representatives of the Government, the Union of Young Communists (UJC), mass, student, and social organizations, the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior, and other personalities from different sectors of the country.
Among the special guests was the Commander of the Rebel Army, José Ramón Machado Ventura.
