With their arrival in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba to evaluate the imaging network of the health sector and build joint solutions in favor of the demanded service, specialists from Switzerland ratified the solidarity support to medical assistance in the territory.
In a meeting with the authorities in the province, Balwinder Singh Kalsi, owner of the European country's Ticitech Supply Company, referred to the tour through centers with equipment donated in 2024, along with his colleague Mario Alerci, a prestigious radiologist, in order to assess the technical status and social impact.
He said he has more than 30 years of experience in Radiology and highlighted the support provided to other European countries in terms of technology, hence the motivation to favor the island, recognized for the exceptional quality of its professionals.
Miguel Angel Diaz, Director General of Health in the territory, underscored the efforts made to extend the digitalization of images, as well as to start up the Computerized Axial Tomography and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance services, which are strategic for the eastern part of the country.
He expressed his gratitude for the intention to cooperate selflessly with the sector, and urged to promote a broad and detailed vision of the area during the visits, in order to solidify work bridges for the future that will benefit the elderly, pregnant women, infants, oncology patients and the population in general.
Valia Hernandez, member of the Imaging Advisory Group in the province, highlighted the performance of 59 medical specialists and more than 300 licensed technologists in all the municipalities, a strength that allows maintaining the stability of the service and the transdisciplinary approach in the training of new professionals.
She recognized the ethical value, humanism and altruism of the personnel of the sector, shown in their capacity for improvement and innovation in the face of the lack of material resources, exacerbated by the intensification of the genocidal blockade imposed on Cuba.
