Government spokespersons today highlighted a good attendance of Salvadorans living abroad to exercise their right to vote.

The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adriana Mira, from Los Angeles, California, said in declarations to Channel 4 television that in that city as well as in Long Island, New York, and other places, there are reports of thousands of nationals voting.

Likewise, images shown by the channel reflected crowds in voting centers in Italy, Sweden and other countries where 29 voting centers were set up.

While here in San Salvador, the general secretary of the Farabundo Martí Front, Oscar Ortiz, denounced violations of the electoral process and called his followers to defend the vote.

Also the president of the Legislative Assembly and candidate of Nuevas Ideas, Ernesto Castro, when asked if he desired to continue at the head of that forum, declared that “that is a decision of the deputies”. If the Salvadoran people give me that possibility, I will continue in that job,” he said.

Joel Suárez, candidate of the Alianza Republicana Nacionalista (Arena), who hopes that surveys are wrong in its popular support to President Nayib Bukele, has already voted in these elections.
