Havana, Mar 26 (RHC)-- Cuba's Ministry of the Armed Forces (MINFAR) announced the death on Friday of reserve brigadier general Rafael Moracén Limonta, Hero of the Republic and internationalist revolutionary.

According to a press release from the institution, Moracen joined the Armed Forces when he was only 18 years old and participated in the insurrectional struggle against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista in the Third Front "Mario Muñoz," under the orders of the Commander of the Revolution Juan Almeida Bosque.

Moracen also served on an international mission in Angola, where he was Cuba's naval and air military attaché. He was also a founder of the Communist Party of Cuba and a delegate to several congresses (I, II, IV, and V) of the organization, and a deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power (parliament) in its first and second legislature.

Moracen's body will be cremated, and his ashes will be exhibited on Monday at the Veterans' Pantheon of the Colon Cemetery, where they will remain until their transfer at a later date to the Mausoleum of the Third Front Doctor Mario Muñoz in the province of Santiago de Cuba (east), the MINFAR note said.
