In a speech delivered at the Olof Palme Convention Center on the 44th anniversary of the Nicaraguan Navy, President Daniel Ortega praised the resistance of the Cuban Revolution and other similar political processes, such as those of Nicaragua and Venezuela.

“These revolutions that totally broke the power structures established here by those that imposed the doctrine of ‘America for the Americans’, that is, America for the Yankees,” he stressed.

Ortega recalled the 98th and 94th anniversaries of the births of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and Tomás Borge, respectively, and went over the main events of the Sandinista Revolution.

He also pointed out the heroic deeds of the Venezuelan people and of Chávez, who practiced the Christian principle of loving your neighbor as yourself for the benefit of the poor and the unprotected in the most impoverished countries in the region.

The Nicaraguan leader also talked about the current situation regarding the recent elections in Venezuela and reiterated that Nicolás Maduro is the President that the people voted for.

“They have now staged a coup by manipulating the state of the art in technology, which should serve to do good, not evil,” Ortega underscored, and reasserted his confidence in the people of Comandante Chávez.
