The health situation deriving from Mpox in South Africa will not dampen the enthusiam to hold the Aerospace and Defense Expo and Air Show (AAD), scheduled to begin on the 18th of September, organizers said.

A statement released today by the event’s organizing committed stressed there is no indication that the Mpox virus will significantly affect or pose a direct threat to the upcoming AAD Expo.

The document likewise reported that until August 18th South Africa had registered 24 cases of Mpox, including three deaths.

Since that date, there have been 19 recoveries and only two active cases are currently in home isolation.

The Ministry of Health, joining hands with such international entities as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), has taken effective measures to contain and control the virus, the statement added.

In addition, said AAD Expo Director Nakedi Phasha, developments are being closely monitored “to ensure the safety of all participants.”
