Cuban Deputy Culture Minister Begins Visit to Seychelles

Cuban Deputy Culture Minister Lizette Martínez arrived in Seychelles on Friday on an official working visit at the invitation of the National Institute of Culture, Heritage and the Arts.
Accompanied by Dinorah Prieto, professor of art education, the official will have a busy agenda and will meet with authorities from the Government and Parliament, Seychellois artists, and will hold work sessions with cultural institutions and art education.
Martínez was welcomed at Victoria’s International Airport by the Secretary General of the Institute of Culture, Heritage and the Arts, David André; Permanent Secretary Cecile Kalebi, Cuban Ambassador Martha Henández, and Minister Counselor Tomás Méndez.
As part of her activities until February 10, the Cuban deputy minister will sign a memorandum of understanding between the National Libraries of Cuba and Seychelles, and will meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde, and Principal Secretary of Tourism Sherine Francis.
Martínez will also meet with Wavel Woodcock, president of the Committee on Press, Youth, Sports and Culture and Vice President of the Commission on International Relations, and will pay a courtesy call on the Secretary General of the Institute of Culture, Heritage and the Arts. One of her first activities will be a meeting with the members of the Conservatory.
The Cuban official will also visit places of cultural, heritage and historical value in the nation.
