The Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique (unicameral Congress) received Friday in Maputo the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, as part of his official visit to that African country.

On Friday afternoon, the Cuban leader shared with deputies of the legislative body, headed by Esperança Laurinda Francisco Nhiuane Bias, with whom he exchanged words of friendship.

After the meeting, Díaz-Canel went to the Heroes Square in the capital, where he laid a wreath as a symbol of homage.

He then went to the 'Marcelino dos Santos' clinic, a center that remembers one of the founders of the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo), and where both countries are carrying out a project for the specialized care of people with diabetes.

The Cuban head of state arrived this morning in the African nation, where he had a dialogue with his counterpart, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.

The Mozambican president then reaffirmed his country's condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than 60 years, and ratified his solidarity with the brotherly people of the Caribbean nation.
