The personal exhibition "Memorias de la Persistencia" (Memories of Persistence) by Spanish photographer Jose Maria Mellado opened at Havana's National Museum of Fine Arts on Monday to show ethical, aesthetic, and technical concerns through 31 images.

The large-format exhibition will remain in the prestigious Cuban art gallery until October, and the author invites us to reflect on the protection of the environment and the impact of human civilization on natural landscapes and their transformation.

The photo exhibition is being held in the hall adjacent to the rooms of Spanish paintings and other European collections in the Universal Art Building of the Museum, the Cubarte website reported.

Mellado, who was born in Almeria in 1966, has a work characterized by hyper-realism and the special treatment of light, in addition to being considered a reference for photographers due to his High-Quality Photography method.

More than 100 awards endorse the work of this artist throughout his career and his works are included in the collections of important museums, like the Queen Sofia National Museum Art Center, the Fine Arts Museum of Santander, both in Spain, and the Borusan Contemporary Museum of Istanbul, in Türkiye.

He is represented by galleries in Germany, Belgium, Türkiye, Switzerland, France, and Panama.
