Brasilia, Nov. 16 (Prensa Latina) Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva Monday affirmed President Jair Bolsonaro´s extreme right was the great defeat in the first round of municipal elections in Brazil. In his four-point assessment of the election day published on Twitter, Lula stated that Bolsonaro was the big loser at polls and 'the strengthening of the left and its humanist and social justice values proves that rebuilding another Brazil is possible, more fraternal and supportive'.
Out of 13 candidates for mayor and councilors, publicly supported by the far-right president, just two managed to be elected and another two took their election race to runoff. Nine of former military's allies fell by the wayside.
For Lula, despite challenges imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Workers' Party (PT) interviewed people on the street and debated a project for a more humane and less unequal society.
