The 29th Latin American and Caribbean Brigade of Volunteer Work and Solidarity with Cuba will travel to the island to celebrate on August 13 the 98th anniversary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.

The 60 members of the contingent, who come from Argentina, El Salvador, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Colombia and Venezuela, will be staying at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp (CIJAM) in the province of Artemisa.

The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) informed that the celebrations will start on Monday 12 with a lecture on Fidel’s thoughts and legacy, followed by a Solidarity Meeting and a party to await and welcome August 13, which the brigadistas will spend doing volunteer work.

Beforehand, the Brigade will visit the Fidel Castro Center, attend lectures on the current situation of the country, marked by a genocidal U.S. blockade that tampers with economic
development and makes people’s daily life more and more difficult, and meet with members of mass organizations and workers during a tour of several Cuban provinces.

Joining this contingent is the 30th Máximo Gómez Brigade and representatives of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign from the Dominican Republic, as well as Julieta Herrera Valera, member of the Youth Commission of the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Network of Solidarity with Cuba.
