International Clean Energy Fair Opens in Havana

The 3rd International Fair of Renewable Energy is taking place at the Pabexpo exhibit hall, in western Havana, September 18-20, with the attendance of local and foreign companies in the important sector.
The event is considered the right scenario for experts, investors and business people in the world of renewables to share experiences, technological advances and commercial interests, and investment opportunities in Cuba and other countries of the region.
Cuban authorities are deeply involved in pushing the transition of the island’s energy scheme, from fossil fuel to renewable sources, including wind, biomass and solar energy.
At present, Cuba’s electricity output based on renewables stands only by 5 percent, the other 95 percent is produced by burning fossil fuels. The island expects progressively change that scenario and increase its power output from renewable sources to 24 percent in 2030.
The fair is expected favor new deals, and exchange ideas among participants, which may contribute to the country’s progressive transition to clean energy.
