Paris, Dec 31 (Prensa Latina) The French solidarity association Cuba Linda on Saturday congratulated the Caribbean island on the 64th anniversary of its Revolution and wished it success in 2023, after a year of difficulties due to the United States blockade and adverse events.

The year ending on Saturday was complex for the world and especially hard for Cuba, which had to face not only an imperialist blockade more insidious than ever but also the explosion at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana, the fire at the Matanzas oil terminal, and the damage caused by Hurricane Ian across western Cuba, the association stressed in a communiqué.

Cuba Linda, founded in 1998 to foster rapprochement between France and Cuba, highlighted the Caribbean nation’s resistance and achievements in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly protecting the vast majority of its population with its homegrown vaccines.

During the pandemic, with its economic consequences, the United States did not ease its genocidal blockade of more than 60 years.

Cuba Linda condemned the 243 measures imposed by the Donald Trump administration (2017-2021) to tighten the blockade and the hostile policy that incumbent President Joe Biden has maintained.

The association also reiterated its support for Cuba and its socialist Revolution. It advocated for 2023 with more significant solidarity mobilization against Washington’s blockade, which it described as illegal and criminal.
