Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) has issued an official statement regarding a fire that occurred on the morning of Monday, November 11, 2024, at the 26” Muscar – Soto Gas Pipeline, located in the Muscar Operational Complex in the Ezequiel Zamora municipality, Monagas state.

The statement details that “a multidisciplinary team comprised of industry specialists, Civil Protection, the Bolivarian National Guard, and firefighters from Monagas state have been on-site since the incident was reported.”

This team is carrying out containment and mitigation efforts for the fire, following established safety protocols for emergency situations.

PDVSA has emphasized its commitment to the safety and well-being of its workers and nearby communities.

In this regard, the statement mentions that “technical personnel are performing maneuvers strictly adhering to safety protocols to safeguard the integrity of both personnel and surrounding communities.”

So far, it has been reported that five workers have received medical attention in health centers due to injuries sustained during the explosion. “They are receiving specialized medical care and all necessary support for their swift recovery,” adds the official statement.

Additionally, PDVSA has indicated that they are investigating the causes of the fire, suggesting that it could be an attack on the country’s critical infrastructure. “the technical team is investigating the strange circumstances of the incident that profile it as an attack on our industry,” concluded the official text.
