Online Procedures Platform "Soberanía" Promotes Access in Cuba

Since last July 10th, the Cuban population has had access to the Government Information and Services Platform, Sovereignty, which allows for digital online procedures to be carried out from anywhere in the national territory, as stated by the platform's own website.

According to the Supervision and Monitoring Group, from that date until last October 21st, the platform registered 97,750 visits, 15,889 accounts created, and 6,151 certified accounts.

The electronic channel groups 290 services into 18 categories, including Civil Registry, Identity, Migration and Foreign Affairs, Labor and Social Security, Finance and Taxes, Agriculture, Education, Public Health, Transportation, Housing and Urban Planning.

Currently, 12 online services for Civil Registry certifications are enabled, in addition to applications for duplicates due to the loss or deterioration of a driver's license, identity card, and vehicle registration.

Each procedure includes detailed information on requirements, documents to be submitted, costs, delivery locations, service hours, processing time, regulatory framework, and frequently asked questions, thus facilitating citizen management.

To access the services, users must register on the platform using a cell phone number or email address and complete their account certification through the MyProfile module, with support from the MiIdentidad.apk application.

The certification process requires a proof-of-life photo and a capture of the updated identity card on both sides, which guarantees the security and privacy of the data, according to the digital identity provider.

Once the account is certified, the citizen can initiate online requests, with the objective of simplifying procedures, reducing wait times, and strengthening ties between the population and government authorities.
