Artistic Campaign Launched to Mark Dual Anniversaries
Titled Fidel Art, a campaign has been launched throughout 2026 by the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (Uneac) to mark its 65th anniversary and the centenary of the birth of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Emphasizing a Foundational Cultural Legacy
During a press conference today at the organization's Havana headquarters, its First Vice President, Magda Resik, addressed the link between both events.
*"The relationship between Fidel and the Uneac, since its very conception in 1961, has been a fundamental pillar for Cuban culture. His integrative and avant-garde vision defined the organization's path, a legacy that is reaffirmed and celebrated today,"* she expressed.

Resik stated that 2026 is a crucial year for Cuba, of high significance due to the fortunate coincidence of the 65th anniversary of Fidel's conception of this Union, which brings together the country's artistic and literary vanguard. "A date worthy of celebrating through works," she emphasized.

A Commitment to Ideals in a Global Context
According to the journalist, these are times of great concern for the world's artistic and literary intellectuals in an increasingly turbulent context.
She noted that Cuban artists engage with this world and leave behind works committed to the most authentic ideals of the Revolution, faithful to the thought of Fidel Castro.

Regarding the Fidel Art campaign, it was announced that it includes the activity program Fidel's Day: Thinking Culture, which will extend throughout the year. Institutions such as Casa de las Américas, the University of the Arts (ISA), and schools within the Cuban artistic education system have joined the initiative.

Broad Institutional Participation and Planned Activities
Also participating are the Fidel Castro Center, the Network of Intellectuals in Defense of Humanity, the magazine Cuba Socialista, the José Martí Cultural Society, the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), and Cuba's Ministry of Culture, among others.

As part of the ambitious plan, theoretical meetings, tribute panels, exhibitions, concerts, and presentations will be held.

New Membership Drive and Multimedia Initiatives
The campaign is accompanied by a call for a new membership process for the Uneac, called Centennial Growth, as well as the podcast Fidel Art, directed by the organization's Vice President Yuris Nórido. He announced that the premiere will take place on the upcoming January 28 with an interview of Miguel Barnet, its Honorary President.

Fidel Art also plans an exhibition of printed banners on the fences of the Uneac's national headquarters in central Havana's Vedado district, as well as several exhibitions in its Villena Hall and the Villa Manuela Gallery.
