Brazilian President Warns of Global Governance via Twitter
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva warned today that Donald Trump aims to dominate the world through social media, in one of several criticisms leveled at his American counterpart.

"Have you noticed that President Trump wants to govern the world through Twitter (X)? It's fantastic. Every day he says something, and every day the world talks about what he said," he expressed during an event in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

"Do you think that's possible? Is it possible to treat people with respect if I don't look them in the face, if I consider them objects and not human beings?" added the Brazilian leader.

Call to Reclaim Humanism and Disconnect
In his remarks, the South American giant's head of state expressed his support for valuing human relationships and urged the population to disconnect from social media for longer periods, stating "we need to reclaim humanism."

During another event held in the same territory, where he traveled to deliver 1,276 houses as part of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program, Lula again criticized Trump and the "very powerful industry of lies" built by the right-wing.

As an example, he cited the 2024 United States presidential elections, in which, he stated, Trump's campaign was responsible for sending approximately two billion messages in the final week before the election against then-Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party candidate.

Critique of Individualism and the "Industry of Lies"
This statement came as Lula lamented the excessive use of cell phones and a life lived in an increasingly individualistic manner.

"If I want food, I order it by phone. If I want to pay a bill, I pay it by phone. And in the WhatsApp group, I have to tell them what I did today. It's all just gossip. And the right-wing knows this, and that's why it has a very powerful industry of lies," he asserted.

Context of Trump's Controversial Peace Council Invitation
The comments took place on the same day Trump confirmed he had invited Lula to join his controversial Peace Council and expressed hope that the Brazilian leader would play a significant role in the group.

However, Brazilian media reported that the Executive Branch was weighing the proposal cautiously, and CNN Brasil cited sources indicating the federal government was resisting the invitation.

Furthermore, this past Sunday, Lula published an article in The New York Times condemning the U.S. attack on Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro, warning of the risks of using military force in international relations.
