Work of Writer Alejo Carpentier Featured in Cuban 'Sábado del Libro' Space

The title La cultura en Cuba y en el mundo (Culture in Cuba and in the World), by the emblematic national writer Alejo Carpentier, will be presented today at the traditional Sábado del Libro (Saturday of the Book) space in the historic center of this capital.
Published by Ediciones Olivo, the work compiles the lectures given by the intellectual on Radio Habana Cuba between 1964 and 1966, the Cuban Book Institute, organizer of the monthly event, reported.
This volume brings together for the first time the 32 talks that have been preserved from that radio series, the communiqué added.
The event will take place at 11:00 local time on Calle de Madera, facing the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, located in the Plaza de Armas in the city's historic center.
Alejo Carpentier (1904-1980) is a Cuban novelist, critic, and essayist, author of books such as El Reino de este mundo (The Kingdom of This World), El siglo de las luces (Explosion in a Cathedral), and Concierto Barroco (Concierto Barroco), considered the first representative of Latin American Magical Realism.
