Havana, April 26 (RHC)-- The Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, says that removing the U.S. blockade against Cuba is a matter of justice and respect for the Cuban people.

At the conclusion of a tour of the Fidel Castro Center in Havana, the Caribbean leader ratified that he will continue his call to the U.S. government to eliminate these sanctions.

The premier considered that the institution is a well-deserved tribute to Fidel Castro because it reminds new generations of the struggle of the Cuban Revolution.

"I feel great nostalgia because I would prefer Fidel to be alive, among us, but his ideas, commitments and visions remain in us."

He added that the struggle for peace and justice continues and ratified that his country and its people remain united and supporting Cuba in that struggle.

Skerrit was received this Sunday by Deputy Foreign Minister Josefina Vidal and will be in Havana until April 27 to complete a work agenda that includes a meeting on April 26 with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel to review experiences and bilateral projects.

He will also receive the José Martí Order, the highest distinction granted by the country, and will attend the BioHabana 2022 international congress, which has been held since April 25 in the Cuban capital.

The Republic of Cuba and the Commonwealth of Dominica established diplomatic relations on May 18, 1996. At present, bilateral relations are developing in different areas, with cooperation being the most important.
