Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel received José Miguel Mejía Abreu, Secretary-General of the United Left Movement Party (MIU) and Minister of Regional Integration Policies of the Dominican Republic.

During their meeting Wednesday, both leaders discussed ways of deepening relations between the two parties.

Díaz-Canel sent Dominican President Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona his greetings and an invitation to visit Cuba again after his short stay in September 2023 to attend the Summit of the G77 and China.

As reported by the Cuban Presidency, in reference to the attitude expected from those who hold posts involving a great deal of responsibility in times as hard as these, Mejía Abreu shared with the Cuban leader a philosophy of battle: "One cannot just sit in front of a wailing wall, but fight instead".

The Cuban head of state had welcomed Mejía Abreu in July 2022 and talked with him about the good relations between the MIU Party and the Communist Party of Cuba, the Presidency pointed out.
