Díaz-Canel closely follows Cuba’s recovery from tropical storm
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said on Thursday that he is suffering from a viral condition, which prevents him from visiting the western province of Pinar del Río, which was affected by Tropical Storm Idalia, but he is closely following its recovery.
To my compatriots: I am suffering from a viral condition, which prevents me from being in Pinar del Río as planned, the president wrote on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter.
However, he added that he was aware of the recovery actions and expected to be ready very soon to resume work with the usual intensity.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero toured areas affected by the meteorological event in Pinar del Río, where he verified the progress in the recovery work.
According to preliminary assessments, Idalia caused significant damage to electrical services, communications and agriculture in Pinar del Río, although Artemisa and the Isla de la Juventud special municipality were also hit by the tropical storm.
