Doctor Duran said that there are Dengue patients hospitalized with some of them in serious conditions.
Meanwhile, more suspected cases of Oropouche disease – caused by the bite of mosquitoes or small flies (midges)—have been detected in 15 provinces, 103 municipalities and 184 health districts.
Most suspected cases have been isolated at home while not showing critical clinical conditions; so far no serious cases or deaths have been reported in Cuba, the doctor said.
The high temperatures of this season of the year, intense rains and difficulties in carry out an effective solid waste collection lead to the proliferation of the arboviruses causing the diseases, said the expert who insisted in the need to take sanitation actions in home surroundings and clean all mosquito breeding sites.
Doctor Duran stressed the need to go to the doc as soon as any symptoms appear, such as headaches, articulation pain, vomits, diarrhea or fever. He said that health authorities keep close epidemiological surveillance due to the presence in the region of Chikungunya, Zika and Mayaro Fever, although no cases of them have thus far been detected in Cuba.
