Cuba’s Los Van Van celebrates 52 years with video clip premiere

The renowned Cuban orchestra Los Van Van, directed by Samuel Formell, will premiere the promotional video clip of the song "Se Muere de Sed la Tia" (Aunt is Dying of Thirst) on digital platforms on Saturday, on the occasion of the group's 52nd anniversary.

The song was included in the band’s most recent album, entitled “Songo” and released by Cuba’s oldest recording company, EGREM.

Los Van Van, founded by bass player, arranger and composer Juan Formell in 1969, is celebrating its 52nd anniversary today with 30 albums recorded and important awards, including the 2000 Grammy Award for its CD “Llego…. Van Van” (Van Van is here).

Songo, a musical rhythm created by Formell, pianist Cesar “Pupy” Pedroso and percussionist Jose Luis Quintana “Changuito”, and it is the sonority that distinguishes the orchestra’s work since its beginnings and with which it has toured several countries.

Popularly known as “The Train of Cuban Music,” for many, Los Van Van has been one of the major popular dance music bands in the country.

The popular orchestra is expected to perform at the Cali Fair, in Colombia, in late December, and in Chile in January 2022, according to its official Facebook profile.
