Matanzas, Cuba, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) Executives of the Juan Gualberto Gomez International Airport, in the western Cuban province of Matanzas, ratified on Friday that the air terminal is certified and ready for restarting operations when the country decides.

In an interview to Prensa Latina, Jose Garcia Manso, director of the airport facility, reaffirmed, 'we are completely ready for reopening operations when the country deems it appropriate.'

'We have all the new biosecurity standards established by international aeronautics, to which Cuba is subscribed. We aim at complying with them and our certification is issued by a national commission,' Garcia Manso added.

'We are going to close 2020 without economic losses despite the fact that since the end of March there has been no movement of aircrafts, and during this time we have carried out maintenance actions to improve the quality of the service we provide,' he underscored.

The aerodrome received the ready certification in July, approved by a sanitary control commission of the National Epidemiology Directorate, which verified the hygienic-sanitary protocols that are applied with a high level of security.

Juan Gualberto Gomez facility is considered the second most important airport in the country for its incomes and travels, it is an alternative to the capital's Jose Marti airport, and is located between this provincial capital city and the famous Varadero resort.
