In the final meeting of the year with Provincial Governors and the Mayor of the Special Municipality of Isla de la Juventud, held via videoconference from the Palace of the Revolution, a thorough analysis was conducted of the Housing Program and other vital matters for the population's welfare.

The meeting, led by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and with the participation of Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of People's Power and of the Council of State; and Salvador Valdés Mesa, Vice President of the Republic—all members of the Political Bureau—focused on identifying solutions to boost this sensitive program, whose results have not yet met expected levels.

As a concrete initiative, the transformation of maritime shipping containers into modular housing was highlighted. Delilah Díaz Fernández, Director General of Housing, provided an update on its progress.

To date, she stated, 1,748 containers have been released, with 59% extracted. Matanzas, Las Tunas, Mayabeque, and Sancti Spíritus are the provinces with the least progress in the transformation actions.

The Head of Government emphasized the need for a deep evaluation of the causes limiting progress and called for identifying and leveraging the endogenous resources of each territory. "Amid current complexities, what new variants can we apply to boost the housing program?" was the central question guiding the debate.

A Guide for Communal Services
During the session, Eloy Álvarez Martínez, Minister of Industries, presented a work guide for the improvement of communal services. This document lays the foundation for a comprehensive program for the territorial management of urban solid waste.

"We must achieve the proper prioritization of this activity by the territorial governments, the adequate management of these processes with the participation of local companies, state agencies, as well as the population and mass organizations," he emphasized.

For his part, Alexis Lorente Jiménez, Governor of Sancti Spíritus, shared his province's experience in attending to communal services, based on systematic oversight and support.

Preparations for Historic Commemoration
In another part of the meeting, Deputy Prime Ministers Inés María Chapman and Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca reported on the preparations for the commemorative activities marking the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, dedicated to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in the year of his centenary.

A Call for Renewed Action
In conclusion, the Prime Minister urged an update of work systems with the active participation of leadership cadres, underlining the importance of mobilizing all local capacities.

The situation facing the country, assured Marrero Cruz, is a call to do things differently and, "through our own efforts, gradually solve existing problems that affect the population."

The meeting also analyzed actions for the prevention and confrontation of illegal mining and the multisectoral attention this issue requires.
