Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated canoeist Yarisleidis Cirilo for the gold medal she won at the Canoeing World Cup - canoe and kayak - in Szeged, Hungary.
Cirilo won the gold medal in the 200-meter single (C-1) after covering the distance with a time of 45,99 seconds, escorted by Canada’s Kathe Vicent (46,10) and Spain’s Anita Jacome (46,83), and placed this Caribbean nation momentarily in fourth place in the medal standings.
On Friday, Spain led the event (with one gold, two silver and one bronze), followed by China (1-1-1), Portugal (1-0-0-0), Cuba (1-0-0), Lithuania (1-0-0), Poland (1-0-0), Romania (1-0-0) and Uzbekistan (1-0-0).
