Among the initiatives that support this recognition are socio-cultural projects such as Guayacan Negro, Changüiseros Unidos por una Sonrisa and Artesaneando con Yeni, presented at the 5th National Forum Patria Chica, of which the province also hosted, these initiatives not only enriched the local heritage, but also projected Guantanamo at the national level.
During the ceremony, the Best Art Instructor of the Year Award will be presented to recognize those who have promoted social transformation through creation and teaching.
The Art Instructor's Day pays tribute to the birth of the outstanding Theater Instructor Olga Alonso Gonzalez, who was born on that day in 1945, one of the first to respond to Fidel Castro's call for young people to study art, and then go to the most intricate places in the country to teach its inhabitants.
The celebration is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Jose Marti Brigade, the 80th anniversary of Olga Alonso's birth and the 130th anniversary of the landing of Marti and Gomez by Playita de Cajobabo.
