Cuban Parliament mourns death of agricultural scientist

At the opening of the 2nd Session of Parliament, its president, Esteban Lazo, expressed his sorrow for Rodriguez’s deaths, and asked to observe a minute of silence as a tribute.

This Assembly will always remember him as an active lawmaker, as well as a agricultural producers and farmers, among whom he always had great recognition,’Lazo said.

Graduated as an agronomist, Sergio Rodriguez spent a great part of his life to study the land at the INIVIT, a national reference center in the development of new varieties of fruits, viands and vegetables.

He held the title of Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba curing his vast career he received several awards such as the National Innovation Award, the Literacy Medal and the Carlos J. Finlay Order.

He made more than 100 scientific publications and achieved the application of nearly a dozen scientific results to production.
