Cuban health authorities confirm 919 new Covid-19 cases and one death

Cuban health authorities on Sunday confirmed 919 new Covid-19 cases and one death over the last 24 hours, totaling 72,503 cases and 415 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020.

Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), said at his daily press conference on television that there 23,198 patients are in hospitals nationwide, including 3,981 suspected cases, 15,678 under epidemiological surveillance and 3,533 active patients with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes Covid-19.

The expert added that all 23 molecular biology laboratories throughout Cuba performed 20,013 PCR tests in real time to detect the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

So far Cuba has accumulated 2,924,071 such tests in more than one year since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.
