With the premise of promoting the identification of young people with their organization, the National Council of the Federation of University Students (FEU), which began on July 29, concluded today in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.

Headed by Susely Morfa, head of the Department of Attention to the Social Sector in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, the homage to the Bronze Titan Antonio Maceo, in the homonymous Revolution Square, kicked off the meeting, favorable for the debate on leadership and representativeness.

In the closing plenary session, Ricardo Rodriguez, national president of the organization, highlighted the incompatibility of the FEU with indifference to the complex social context, hence the youth vanguardism in the defense of fair causes.

He confirmed the revitalization of the student brigade as the heart of all organic processes from the approval of a new guiding document, as well as the will to enhance the common points with the Young Communist League from the universities.

During the day, the new members of the national secretariat were presented and its president was ratified, while seven future professionals were awarded the Fructuoso Rodriguez distinction for their outstanding work in the organization.

The event also included the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the FEU, aimed at guaranteeing the protection of students in vulnerable situations and thus contributing to their optimum educational performance.

Held since last July 29, the National Council ratified the will to reactivate the centenary affiliation, with the aim of defending its future and paying homage to the memory of the Cuban university martyrs.
