Havana, Jul 15 (Prensa Latina) Cuba on Friday reported 64 new Covid-19 cases, 42 medical discharges and no deaths due to complications related to the disease in the last 24 hours.

According to the daily report from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), 479 patients are in hospitals or at home nationwide, 232 of whom are suspected cases and 247 are active cases.

Of the new cases, 45 were contacts of confirmed patients, 11 were infected abroad and the source of contagion was not identified in eight cases.

To date, the number of recovered patients rose to 1,097,830 (99.2 percent of all cases).

Of the active cases, 246 patients are clinically stable, while one person is in a critical condition at an intensive care unit.

So far, Cuba has accumulated 1,106,666 contagions since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in March 2020.

The death toll remains at 8,529 and the country has reached 65 days without deaths due to Covid-19, MINSAP noted.

Health Minister Jose Angel Portal said on Thursday that despite the increase in cases during the last two weeks, the average remains below 50 contagions per day, which shows the control over the disease.
