Cuba's Transportation Minister Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila highlighted on Facebook the growing presence of electric tricycles providing public transportation services across multiple Cuban municipalities, offering residents a new mobility solution amid the country's ongoing transport challenges.

These three-wheeled electric vehicles have become a common sight in many communities, supported by domestic manufacturing through strategic suppliers and funding from the Public Transport Development Fund, according to the MITRANS minister.

Rodríguez Dávila emphasized that electric tricycles have emerged as an affordable transportation option for thousands of Cubans nationwide. Their deployment across various provinces and municipalities helps connect neighborhoods, facilitates short-distance travel, and complements other struggling public transport modes that face severe spare parts and fuel shortages.

Currently, Cuba's public transport system operates 432 electric tricycles distributed across most provinces. Officials plan to expand this fleet with additional units in the coming months as part of ongoing efforts to modernize the country's transportation infrastructure.

The quiet, zero-emission vehicles represent Cuba's push toward sustainable mobility solutions while addressing pressing transportation needs. Their growing presence reflects both practical adaptation to economic constraints and gradual technological advancement in the Caribbean nation's transport sector.
