CITMA goes on monitoring dangerous fire zone in Cuba

Havana, Aug 17 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Science, Technology and Environment Ministry (CITMA, in Spanish) continues to monitor the Matanzas oil terminal following a death-threatening fire broke out on past August 5.
Elba Rosa Perez, CITMA Minister, enlightened all environmental indicators are being studied, taking samples of plants, soils, grasses and other elements in the area.
Rosa Perez cleared up that “environmental issues do not always have an impact on the first short term, but in the second and third ones”.
According to the CITMA minister, specialists from different Cuban universities, research centers and CITMA have been assessing the deadly fire impact across the area.
Summing up, – said Perez – there is not, up to this minute, an indicator endangering people’s health. It´s a statement which has agreed with MINSAP, while assuring they will continue monitoring each environmental parameter.
