Agricultural development experts from Cambodia and Cuba defined a roadmap that opens up real possibilities for achieving concrete results in bilateral cooperation in this area.
The head of the General Directorate of Agriculture of the Kingdom’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry Resources, and Fisheries, Ngin Chhay, and the Technical Regulation and Quality Specialist of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, Karel Serrano, held a videoconference in which they discussed the implementation of the experimental project for the study and evaluation in Cuba of various varieties of Cambodian rice seeds, governed by the Memorandum of Understanding between the Grain Research Institute of Cuba and the Agricultural Research and Development Institute of Cambodia.
The exchange allowed for the definition of joint short- and medium-term work strategies, as well as actions to be implemented in clearly defined stages by both parties, to ensure the success of the bilateral cooperation program.
The Cuban ambassador to Cambodia, Milena Zaldívar, emphasized that the videoconference, held on Thursday, reaffirms the willingness of both governments to strengthen economic and commercial ties between the two countries, which will commemorate 65 years of diplomatic relations on April 15.
“At a time when we celebrate the historic and special relations of friendship between both nations, we are driven by a firm commitment to continue advancing cooperation in agriculture and to follow up on the consensus reached, based on mutual respect, solidarity, and understanding,” the diplomat stated.
