Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba which, he said, is still in force today despite the restoration of the diplomatic ties between Washington and Havana.

For many years, we, along with Cuba and most UN member states, support the resolution on the inadmissibility of the blockade against Cuba, responded Lavrov to a question made by Prensa Latina.

The aforementioned resolution was adopted at the UN with the US opposition virtually the only one, accompanied by just one or two delegations, the Russian diplomat said.

Of course, the perseverance of the international community in supporting the Cuban resolution against the economic blockade also played its role, considered the head of Russian diplomacy.

The normalization of relations between Cuba and the United States is currently far from complete, among other things because the U.S. naval base remains at Guantanamo Bay against the will of the people of the island, said Lavrov.

Still, he said, we believe the process of normalization of relations between Cuba and the United States should continue to the end.

The US president, Barack Obama, fails any specific decision to repeal in Congress, but at least he admitted that this policy has failed, he said.
