Cuba and Uruguay consider bilateral commercial agenda

Uruguay is willing to collaborate and deepen commercial relations with Cuba, said the president of Uruguay´s Export and Investment Promotion Institute, Antonio Carambula, who recently paid a working visit to the island.
The Uruguayan official came here to meet with Cuban food importers and explain about his country export culture and mechanisms. He was interested in areas of the Special Development Zone in the western Mariel harbor.
Upon his return to Uruguay, the official told PL news agency that the two expert teams in Cuba and in his country are considering a very significant working agenda and he announced preparations for a Uruguayan business mission to come to Havana´s International Trade Fair this year, headed by Ranching, Agriculture and Fishery minister Tabare Aguerre.
We have updated information about Cuba´s major imports and about the areas for possible cooperation, said Carambula and added that what is left now is calling upon Uruguayan companies to come to the fair and see.
The official referred to cooperation opportunities in sectors, such as food, dairy products, tourism and telecommunications. He noted that there is increasing interest in the business community following the reestablishment of relations between Cuba and the United States, particularly in the tourist sector.
