Cuba Ready for the High Season, Tourism Minister Says

Cuban Minister of Tourism, Manuel Marrero Cruz, highlighted in the northeastern city of Holguin the favorable conditions the sector has for the proper development of the so-called high season of visitors' arrival to the Cuban archipelago.
The official said that the hotel facilities and those of the rest of the chains involved in the services were subjected to a rigorous enlistment process as an essential element to ensure the friendly and traditional stay of foreign tourists on visits to Cuba.
The high tourist season that opens its doors by these days and extends for about five months, will have more than 61,000 rooms in different tourist modalities offered by this sector in exclusive areas of beaches, sun, nature and city, he stated.
In this regard he highlighted the efforts and dedication of workers for providing greater vitality to their facilities as ways that contribute to raise the quality and efficiency levels in each of the areas visited by tourists.
Marrero told reporters that Canada will remain the main source of tourists to Cuba and also stressed the increase recorded in recent seasons by Germany, France, and Italy among other European nations.
In that case he also cited the possibilities of increasing visitor arrivals from Russia, while markets from Latin American region, especially Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile and Peru are consolidated.
The main tourist destinations in Cuba are concentrated in Havana, Varadero, Holguin, Cayo Coco (in Ciego de Avila), northern coast of Villa Clara and Trinidad, in Sancti Spiritus
