Cubans pay tribute to 13 militaries who died in Holguin

Cubans pay a posthumous tribute on Monday to the 13 members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) who died as a result of a fire in a war material warehouse in the Holguin's Military Region.

The tribute to those fighters will be held at this capital Mayor General Calixto Garcia Revolution Square.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel declared an official mourning from 6:00 hours (local time) this Monday to 00:00 hours (local time) on Tuesday.

During that period, the national flag will be hoisted at half-mast in public buildings and military installations.

According to investigations by the Revolutionary Armed Forces Ministry (MINFAR), the possible cause of the fire, which occurred on January 7, was an electrical failure caused by a short circuit inside the facility.
