Havana, Jun 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel led today a meeting to check the recovery actions in the provinces affected by the heavy rains left by the subtropical storm Alberto in May and June.

Through a videoconference, the President discussed details of the recovery with authorities of Ciego de Avila, Cienfuegos, Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara, Pinar del Rio, Matanzas, Artemisa and Mayabeque, the western and central Cuban territories hit by the rains.

According to a report by the National Television News, ministries and other organizations reported during the meeting about the ongoing tasks to address the damage caused by the rains, which provoked human and material losses, and forced the evacuation of thousands of people.

Among the most affected areas are agriculture, road infrastructure and housing.

Diaz-Canel called on national and local authorities to ensure follow-up to recovery actions and the quality of work in each sector.
