Havana, Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) After three days of the 35th International Fair of Havana (FIHAV 2017), today the businessmen attending this Cuban commercial exchange have their most scrutinizing views in the western region of Mariel.

Bay and territory of broad possibilities for the future of trade in the Caribbean and Latin America, the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) is the focal point for delegates from over 70 countries that come to FIHAV (October 30 to November 3) , Expocuba site).

The organizers of the meeting pointed out this week that from November 2016 to this date, the Cuban authorities approved 12 new projects from Cuba, Portugal, Switzerland, Canada, Russia, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Spain and France, just for the Mariel zone.

Precisely, the general director of the office of the ZEDM, Ana Teresa Igarza, reported that in total there are 31 authorized users in this area, with an investment amount of over 11 billion dollars.

There are involved 14 countries, for plans of which five are hundred percent Cuban capital, 16 of totally foreign capital, while eight mixed companies appear, and two programs under the modality of International Economic Association.

They mention as examples the projects of the joint Cuban-Spanish companies Logística Hotelera del Caribe S.A., and El Salado S.A., the latter to build condominiums and golf fields.
