All member countries of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) confirmed their attendance at the First Cooperation Conference of this mechanism, taking place on March 8 in this capital, informed the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
According to the Interim Director General for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rafael Zamora, most nations will be represented by their foreign ministers or at the highest ministerial level.
This regional event for consultation, coordination and cooperation will focus its discussions on tackling climate change and the need for interconnection between insular and coastal states in the Caribbean sea, which have tourism as a fundamental economic activity.
During the 7th ACS Summit held in Havana in June 2016, Cuba presented the Climate Change Program, which opened a new area of cooperation, which in the current juncture is vital for the development of the member countries, specially the small island states of the Caribbean, the diplomat recalled.
Zamora informed that Habana Libre hotel will host next March 10 the 22nd meeting of the Council of Ministers of the association, after a preparatory meeting with senior officials, the day before.
He also pointed out that, in the midst of transformations in the regional political and economic landscape, it was a priority for Cuba to promote the revitalization of the first regional associative mechanism in which the Revolution fully participated, thanks to the strength of its Caribbean neighbors.
