All airports in Cuba remain operational using alternative electrical systems to ensure the landing and takeoff of aircraft from various airlines, as well as the arrival and departure of passengers and other essential services, Cuban Minister of Transportation Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila announced today.

Amid a nationwide power outage caused by the collapse of the National Electric System this morning, the minister reported that the National Passenger Train Company has confirmed its rail services are running on all scheduled routes, along with the departures of national buses.

Rodríguez Dávila stated on his official Facebook page that the connection between Nueva Gerona and Batabanó will continue “just as it has until now,” using the ferry Perseverancia, whose next departure is scheduled for tomorrow, September 11, at the usual time.

He also confirmed the continuation of unloading operations at the ports of Havana, Vita, Carúpano, Santiago de Cuba, and Cienfuegos. These maneuvers, he noted, are critical for the reception of essential goods, including items for the regulated family food basket.

The minister emphasized that port operations remain stable thanks to the work of companies such as Navegación Caribe, Prácticos de Cuba, and the MAMBISA Consignment Agency.

Rodríguez Dávila expressed his gratitude in advance for public understanding in the face of any unforeseen circumstances. He added that, together with provincial delegations and subordinate entities, his ministry remains in constant communication with local authorities and the population “to adopt any additional measures that may be required.”
