The meeting is being held within the framework of the Sixth Forum of the Parliamentary Front Against Hunger in Latin America, or PFH, and the Caribbean, and will end Tuesday.

It is organized by the PFH and United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and is aimed at promoting parliamentary dialogue and establishing guaranteed access to food as a strategic and key issue of parliamentary activity.

Peruvian Vice President Marisol Espinoza, Peruvian Congress President Luis Iberico, Peruvian Health Minister Anibal Vasquez, and Ecuadorian Assembly Member Maria Augusta Calle, as PFH Chairperson among members of Congress from other Latin American countries attended the opening of the meeting.

Parliamentarians from Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, São Tome and Principe, and Sierra Leone also attended the meet, during which the legislators are expected to exchange knowledge, opinion and experiences from their respective countries on how to reduce malnutrition levels and make social pacts based on social inclusion and active participation of all sectors of society, according to a statement from the Peruvian Congress.

They will also discuss the way in which PFH will contribute to the development of Food Security, Nutrition and Hunger Eradication Plan of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean states.
