The Cuban U-17 men's soccer team won the ticket to the CONCACAF final round, to be held in Panama on April 2017, qualifier for the World Cup in India.

The squad coached by Rufino Sotolongo got two consecutive wins in group B, in the final phase of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), which takes place in Trinidad and Tobago.

At Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, the Cuban players debuted last Saturday with a 2-1 win over Curacao, with goals scored by Yandri Romero and Ribaldo Roldán.

Then, on Sunday, they thrashed 6-0 Guadalpupe, with two goals by striker Brian Savigne (minutes 86 and 90 + 3), and one per capita by Yandri Romero, Ribaldo Roldan and Manuel Cruz, at 31, 35 and 75 minutes, respectively. The other was an own goal by defender Cristian Tucks.

With the ticket already in their pocket for the CONCACAF final, the Cuban side will face tomorrow Suriname, which has balance of two losses.

Cuba has attended two U-17 World Cups: Scotland 1989 and Italy 1991.
