Cuba Wants to Take 10 Judokas to Rio

Cuba wants today to take 10 judokas to the 2016 Olympic Games of Rio of Janeiro, said the president of the Cuban National Federation of Judo, Rafael Manso. In a meeting with the press, the official showed that the intention is to manage to classify five fighters in each sex, several of them with possibilities of reaching medals in Rio de Janeiro.
The island is close to the goal, but the world list, the only route to obtain the ticket to Rio 2016, does not close yet, and will do it in a few months, therefore the athletes will have to keep on competing to be supported in the highest positions.
In this aspect, Manso aimed that the Cuban judokas will make a tour along Europe in February, which includes competitions in France, Germany and Italy.
The official said everything is ready to celebrate the Grand Prix of Havana with quality, which weighing and press conference will take place in the Meliá Havana Hotel, main accommodation.
The inscriptions showed an increase both in countries (69) and in competitors (428) with regard to the version celebrated in 2014 in the Cuban capital.
The meeting with press reporters was also useful for the Cuban Sports Institute (INDER) to announce the wide plan of activities to commemorate its 55th anniversary on February 23.
