The Cuban film Viva Cuba participates in the international festival "In the Land of Children" in Tunisia, according to a report from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean nation today.

The film, directed by Juan Carlos Cremata and Iraida Malberti, was presented by the Cuban embassy in the African nation, in collaboration with the Slimania Cultural Center, the event’s organizer, under the supervision of the Regional Delegation for Cultural Affairs of the Tunisian Governorate.

The festival concludes tomorrow, spanning “the alleys and historic sites of the beautiful Medina of Tunis, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979, to Habib Bourguiba Avenue.”

There, “children and artists from Tunisia and around the world gather for the vibrant global celebration,” the Foreign Ministry’s publication notes.

The island’s culture is also present through photography, music, dance, and traditional Cuban costumes.

Viva Cuba, a 2005 tragicomedy co-written by Cremata and Manolito Rodriguez, was the first Cuban film to receive the Grand Prix Ecrans Juniors for children’s cinema at the Cannes Film Festival.
