Panama Denounces Election of Anti-Cuban Agent at IACHR
especiales

The online magazine El Periodico de Panama denounced that the recent election of anti-Cuban agent Rosa Maria Paya to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) is another strategy of the US government.
In an editorial, the news report points out that the commissioner represents the same ethos and that the Donald Trump administration is attempting to turn her into a spearhead in its sordid war against Cuba.
The news report emphasizes that the campaign manager for that nomination was U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, another figure trying to subvert the unwavering will of the Cuban people.
It also recalls that since 1960, Undersecretary of State Lester D. Mallory, in a detailed report following a visit to the island, recommended this policy of attacks and economic depletion to destroy the Revolution that triumphed in 1959.
The day before, the Cuban Foreign Ministry denounced pressure and blackmail by the United States government to impose the notorious mercenary Rosa Maria Paya Acevedo on the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) of the Organization of American States (OAS).
According to an official statement, Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s efforts to whitewash the candidate’s record, which he made a priority for his department, did not erase the shameful record of the newly appointed Commissioner, who displays her support for coups d’état, spreads lies, and promotes military interventions and economic warfare policies in the region.
In this diplomatic note, Cuba reiterated that it does not, and will not, recognize any moral or legal authority of the OAS or any of its officials and subsidiary or autonomous bodies.
